FAQs
"I had a good time helping WitKids! I got to have fun and make the world a better place at the same time."
Brody E. 11 yr. old volunteer
What exactly is the WitKids Leadership Program (WLP)?
The WLP is based on a standards-based service-learning curriculum, “Whatever It Takes!”. During the semester/year-long program students learn in the classroom how to solve real-life problems facing their school, community and the world. They become actively contributing citizens and community members through the service they perform. Students build character and become active participants as they work with others in their school and community to create service projects in areas such as education, public safety, environment and global awareness.
What ages can participate in the WLP?
Currently, the WLP is offered to grade levels K-12. At the elementary school level it is offered as an after school program and at the middle and high school level it is offered during lunch time/school club meeting time.
How can I get the WLP at my school?
Send The WitKids Team an email at info@witkids.org and a Team Member will get back to you within 24 hours with more information. You can see what some of the WLP schools are doing here.
Where can I get more information about WitKids events?
WitKids sends a monthly e-newsletter, WitNews, to all our WitFans. WitNews has event updates, features a WitKid of the Month and shares project updates from all around the world. Sign up to receive it here.
I love what you’re doing! How can my company get involved and support WitKids?
We are always looking to partner with local and national companies that support our mission and vision. Throughout the year we have different fundraising events that provide a great opportunity for companies to feature their products while also showing support for the efforts of WitKids all over the world. Please email info@witkids.org for more information.
What does WIT stand for?
Whatever It Takes! This was the motto in Miss Hernholm’s (WitKids founder) classroom when she was an elementary teacher. Her students’ willingness to do Whatever It Takes inspired her to leave teaching and start a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring, educating and empowering students to be leaders in their school, community and the world.
Who designed your logo?
Claire from Rancho Bernardo, CA designed the winning logo back in 2009. She used her talents to capture the joy, inspiration and dedication of WitKids everywhere. Can you find her name in the logo?
